Introduction

As the nation's first department of cultural anthropology (opened in 1972), our department has continued a long tradition of cultivating "cultural experts." At the graduate school of our department, two professors are currently in charge of research and education in the fields of archaeology and social anthropology and folklore. Unlike other humanities fields, it aims to cultivate experts who reveal and communicate culture and history through research and research on existing human culture and folk life as well as relics and relics left by mankind and ancestors in the past.
Archaeology is a study that restores culture based on the totality of the culture, behavior, technology, and spirituality of the time, which can be known through material materials left by mankind in the past, such as relics, relics, and ruins. In the graduate archaeology major of our department, we are cultivating and producing professional manpower through an in-depth curriculum based on theories and various practices in line with the trend of importance of culture, historical content, and education and utilization based on them. It also includes archaeological education in East Asia and Eurasia as well as Korea.
Social anthropology and folklore are the disciplines of understanding and explaining the diversity and complexity of culture, society, and human behavior by exploring and analyzing human behavior, customs, social structures, and cultural characteristics. By paying attention to the social utilization value of local cultural heritage through theory and field research and exploring communities with various memories of local communities, we are producing professional manpower with local cultural identity.
Currently, alumni who have graduated from our department belong to related organizations across the country and are actively participating in the preservation, investigation, research, and utilization of cultural heritage in the country and local communities.
